Nebraska feedlot operators will have an opportunity to hear the latest cattle market outlook, explore meat science research and discuss industry issues during three Nebraska Cattlemen Feedlot Council meetings scheduled for Nov. 10-12.
The meetings will be held in West Point, McCool Junction and Curtis, bringing together producers and industry experts for discussions focused on feedlot production and the challenges facing cattle feeders.
Meeting dates and locations
- Tuesday, Nov. 10: Nielsen Community Center, West Point
- Wednesday, Nov. 11: Stone Creek Event Center, McCool Junction
- Thursday, Nov. 12: Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture campus, Curtis
Each meeting begins at 6 p.m. with a meal. There is no cost to attend.
TaraLee Hudson, director of producer relations and engagement for Nebraska Cattlemen, said the organization has finalized additional speakers since announcing the meetings earlier this month.
Dr. Elliott Dennis of the University of Missouri, formerly of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will provide a beef and cattle market outlook. Dr. Tommy Wheeler of the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center will address the meat science side of feedlot production.
While the meetings are geared toward feedlot operators and Nebraska Cattlemen members, Hudson emphasized that attendance is open to anyone interested in the topics.
“If you’re not a member, you’re also welcome to come,” Hudson said. “It’s going to be more feedlot focused, but we’d love to have anybody.”
Beyond the educational presentations, Hudson said the meetings reflect Nebraska Cattlemen’s broader mission of keeping producers informed and ensuring their concerns help shape the organization’s policy priorities.
Nebraska Cattlemen is encouraging attendees to RSVP by Friday, Oct. 30, although Hudson said producers will still be welcome without advance registration.
