Vice President JD Vance announced a major investment in domestic fertilizer production during a campaign rally in North Platte today.
The vice president said it’s part of the administration’s agenda to boost domestic production and lower input costs,
“Support the fertilizer we need at a lower cost, it is good for every American and every one of our 50 states”, Vance said.
Vance put some of the focus on Brad Foote of Foote Cattle Company in North Platte in his announcement.
Vance also mentioned a company known as Talus Ag.
Online records show the company had proposed an ammonia fertilizer project in Hartington.
However, the City of Hartington shared on its Facebook page earlier this year that the company had scrapped the project.
Local news accounts show residents had raised concerns about the proposed plant.
The vice president did not specify the location for this one-point-three billion dollar project.
Diesel and fertilizer expenses are two challenges for ag producers, and both areas the administration has attempted to address in the run-up to the election.
