A tour around West Point shows plenty of small to moderate limbs are downed, a few large trees received damage from the storms early this morning. Tree trimmers were spotted in the southeast residential section of the city. Residents were noted picking up storm debris from lawns and sidewalks as well.
Stanton County Emergency Management indicates a Tornado warning in that area was indicated by radar in Southern Stanton County along the Colfax and Cuming County lines – there are some small tree debris in roadways, wind gusts in that area were reportedly upwards of 75 miles per hour.
Heavy rains during the storm – a number of KTIC listeners called – two inches and ten hundredths of an inch in Schuyler, 2.75 inches of rain out in the county, 4 inches in Pender, and so far the most rain in our area – 5 inches and 80 hundreths in Bancroft. and the rain gauge here at the KTIC studios registered an even two inches of rain.
The heavy rains and winds made driving dicey during the height of the storms. The West Point Police Dispatch department, however, says no accidents were reported. Fremont first responders have reported some flooding in the city near Military and Luther.
