A missing Lincoln juvenile has been safely recovered in Texas, and a woman accused of taking the juvenile is now in custody. The U.S. Marshals Service says members of its Western District of Arkansas Fugitive Task Force arrested the woman Thursday at a park in Texarkana, Texas, where the juvenile was found with her.
Lincoln Police began investigating after a juvenile was reported missing June 26. Investigators learned the juvenile had been seen in Lincoln with a friend and the suspect before authorities discovered the woman had purchased Greyhound bus tickets to Texarkana. Earlier this week, the U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force in Nebraska was asked to assist in the search and coordinated with authorities in Arkansas and Texas.
The woman, who is wanted by Lincoln Police on a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, is being held in Texarkana pending extradition to Nebraska. Officials say the juvenile appeared to be in good health and was taken into protective custody. The recovery effort involved the U.S. Marshals Service, Lincoln Police Department, and the Texarkana Police Department.
