A Nebraska man was found dead in Sumner County, Kansas on Sunday, after his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters.
According to KSN-TV in Wichita, Sumner County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched near Slate Creek Saturday afternoon following a report of a submerged vehicle.
Because of the speed and force of floodwaters, water rescue personnel from the Wellington Fire Department were unable to safely enter the water.
A body was recovered from Slate Creek a quarter mile downstream from where the vehicle was swept from the roadway at around noon Sunday. The victim was later identified as Venkatesh Doppalaudi, 33, from Elkhorn.
