Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie A. Batenhorst age 81 of West Point, NE will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE. Interment will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the GA Cafeteria. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, or to a charity of your choosing in Marjorie’s name.

Marjorie Ann Batenhorst was born on March 4, 1945, in West Point, Nebraska, to Leander and Wilma (Schlautman) Wellman. She attended Pebble Valley Catholic School in Aloys, later attended Assumption Academy in Norfolk, and graduated from West Point Central Catholic High School in 1964.
On August 13, 1966, she married the love of her life, Kenneth F. Batenhorst, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Aloys, NE. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love, sharing nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage.
After high school, Marjorie worked at Wimmer’s Meat Products in West Point. As her children grew older, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant, a profession that perfectly reflected her compassionate heart. She spent many years caring for residents at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer before later providing private in-home care. Whether caring for family, friends, or those entrusted to her professionally, Marjorie offered comfort with a gentle touch, a listening ear, and a compassionate heart.
A faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marjorie taught CCD for several years and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. Her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the quiet ways she served others. She especially enjoyed making rosaries, lovingly giving them to graduating seniors year after year as a reminder to keep their faith close wherever life would lead them.
Marjorie found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved traveling, crafting, and spending time with those she loved most. Nothing made her happier than cheering from the stands, celebrating milestones, and making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.
Marjorie’s greatest accomplishment was not measured by the work she did, but by the love she gave. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example, a community blessed by her kindness, and countless lives touched by her compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. Though she will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew her for generations to come.

She is also survived by her siblings: Jerry and Shelley Wellman, Robert and Julie Wellman, Dennis and Connie Wellman, Dave and Laurie Wellman, Janet and Brian Allison, Diane and Barclay Hunt, and Mark and Shawna Wellman; her sister-in-law, Gloria Wellman; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leander and Wilma Wellman; her son-in-law, Josh Baker, and her brother, Tom Wellman.
