Dean Loseke, 78, of Schuyler passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held on August 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brookestone Acres Great Room in Columbus, Nebraska.
Dean was born on December 5, 1947, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Edward and Lucuta Loseke of Leigh, Nebraska. He was raised in Leigh, where he attended Leigh Public Schools and spent his early years helping on the family farm.
On February 14, 1967, Dean married the love of his life, LeAnna Lee of Schuyler, Nebraska, at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. Together, they built a life centered on family and raised five children.
Soon after his marriage, Dean proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1967. During his service, he was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, where he worked as a jet engine mechanic. In recognition of his dedication and excellence, he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service in 1970. He honorably served until 1971.
Dean had a lifelong passion for classic cars. He enjoyed working on and collecting them, as well as attending auctions and car shows—often alongside his wife. Above all, Dean cherished time spent with his family, creating lasting memories through summer vacations and gatherings.
Dean is lovingly survived by his wife, LeAnna Loseke; his children, Rick (Dawn) Loseke, Cory (Carrie) Loseke, Deanne (Mick) Yrkoski, Mistee Loseke, and Lorissa (Ben) Petersen; and his bonus daughters, Shandrika (Justin) Wimberly and Alejandra Blanco. Brothers, Harley (Janet) Loseke and Gale Loseke.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren—Justin and Jeremy Loseke; Elyssa (Jesse) Mendoza; Kaelynn (Coty) Jensen; Caiden and Cierra Loseke; Jaydyn (Maci) Blum; Alexis (Alex) Nathan; Jace Blum; Marcos and Andrew Carias; Caden and Natalie Yrkoski; Khyler Shortridge; Zoe Highsmith; and Brody and Jenna Petersen—as well as six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucuta Loseke; his in-laws, Harold and Marcella Lee; his sister and brother-in-law, Adria and Lee Krueger; and his brothers-in-law, Robert (Bob) Lee, Carroll Lee, Kenny (Ly) Lee, and Donnie Lee.
