Governor Jim Pillen will join agriculture leaders and faith leaders Thursday at the State Capitol in Lincoln to recognize a Day of Prayer for Agriculture.
The event comes as farmers, ranchers, and rural communities continue to face significant challenges from extreme weather, including drought, wildfires, flooding, and severe storms. Those conditions have created emotional, physical, and financial strain across Nebraska’s ag sector.
Organizers say the gathering is meant to encourage support for those impacted and to bring attention to the ongoing hardships facing rural communities.
The proclamation signing and prayer event will take place Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol. It’s open to the public and will also be streamed live online on the Nebraska Farm Bureau Facebook page.
Participants include Governor Pillen, Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue, Director of Agriculture Sherry Vinton, and several faith leaders.
