Eldon Herman Lorenzen was born to Herman and Dora (Groth) Lorenzen on May 24, 1929, on a homestead southwest of Bancroft, Nebraska. He passed away on May 6, 2026, at the Oakland Heights Sr. Living Center in Oakland, Nebraska, after a long and active life.
Moving to West Point, Nebraska, in his youth, he graduated from West Point High School in May 1946 at the age of 16. On his birthday at age 17, he enlisted in the Army in the Signal Corps and went to World War II. At the end of World War II, he went to the Army Reserves, was recalled for the Korean War, and left the military October 21, 1951.
While in the military, on December 10, 1950, he married Rosemary Janelle Jacobsen in Wisner, Nebraska.
Eldon and Rosemary lived at several military installations, and after leaving the military, they moved back to Eastern Nebraska and completed their college degrees at Wayne State College. Upon completion of his bachelor’s in business education and master’s in business administration they lived in a number of Eastern Nebraska communities where he taught business courses and was a school principal, and guidance counselor. During the summer months, he also drove semi and completed insurance adjustments. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America and was a Paid Up for Life member of the Bancroft, Nebraska American Legion Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Marvin, and Sister Dorthea.
Survivors include his wife Rosemary (Jacobsen) Lorenzen of Lyons; sons Wayne (Tracey) Lorenzen of Omaha, Bradley (Elke) Lorenzen of Indianapolis, IN, and Darrell (Alice) Lorenzen of Ellettsville, IN; daughter Janelle (Craig) Miles of Pierre, SD; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
