CASS COUNTY, Neb. — A 65-year-old Eagle man died Wednesday afternoon following what authorities described as a rolling domestic disturbance in rural Cass County.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:37 p.m. after a 63-year-old woman called 911 reporting that a man driving a separate pickup was following her while she traveled from Elmwood toward Eagle on Highway 1.
Investigators said the woman reported that Kevin LaPage of Eagle was attempting to force her vehicle off the roadway and had rammed her pickup multiple times during the incident.
Authorities said LaPage’s vehicle eventually left the roadway, entered a nearby field and crashed into an outbuilding in rural Elmwood.
A Cass County deputy met the woman at a safe location shortly after the incident, while additional deputies and troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the crash site.
When first responders arrived, they located LaPage inside the vehicle. Officials confirmed he was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elmwood Rescue, Cass County Medics and Cass County Emergency Management also responded after the area was secured.
The investigation remains ongoing by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
