The collegiate rodeo regular season has come to a close across the region, with Nebraska programs turning in strong performances and sending athletes on to the College National Finals Rodeo.
In the Great Plains Region, Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team capped a dominant season by winning the men’s team title with 7,971 points.
The program’s depth showed across the standings, sending a strong group to the College National Finals Rodeo.
On the men’s side, Kahiwa Augustiro led the way as the all-around champion cowboy, qualifying in bareback riding and as the team roping. He’s joined by Jackson Lunn in bareback riding, Trace Scarlavai and Wyatt Davis in bull riding, Matthew Miller in tie-down roping, Jace Richter at team roping, and Koy McAllister in saddle bronc riding.
On the women’s side, Laynee Ohm claimed the all-around champion cowgirl title while qualifying in both goat tying and breakaway roping. Whitney Jennings also secured a CNFR berth in breakaway roping.
The Southeast Community College Rodeo Team finished fifth in the men’s team standings and will be represented at the CNFR in steer wrestling. Kaden Haake placed second, and Dawson Doggett finished third in the region to qualify.
At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rodeo Team, Carli Hawkins led the way, finishing third in the women’s all-around standings and second in goat tying to qualify for the CNFR. Other Huskers remained competitive throughout the season, including Jadon Skavdahl (5th saddle bronc) and Cooper Philipps (8th tie-down roping).
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Rodeo Team finished 12th in the men’s standings and 10th on the women’s side.
In the Central Rocky Mountain Region, Chadron State College Rodeo Team finished fourth in the men’s team standings and fifth in the women’s standings. Individually, Cinch Kiger placed first in bareback riding to qualify for the CNFR, while Bridget Romey added a strong third-place finish in barrel racing.
With the regular season complete, attention now turns to Casper, Wyoming, where the CNFR will feature the top collegiate rodeo athletes in the country.
