WEST POINT, NEBRASKA

CITY COUNCIL AGENDA – Tuesday, December 3, 2024

                                                                                           5:30 o’clock P.M.

Municipal Building, 444 S. Main Street

All agenda items are for discussion and action will be taken as deemed appropriate. The City Council reserves the right to go into closed session in accordance with Section 84-1410.

PRESENT COUNCIL

  1. CALL TO ORDER
  2. Call meeting to order.
  3. Inform the public that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the north wall of the room.
  4. Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
  5. Roll Call.
  6. Visitors/Correspondence:

Anyone desiring to speak on any item or issue not on the agenda or any item on the agenda that does not include a public hearing may do so; but shall be limited to three (3) minutes. Persons should identify themselves by name and address. Persons speaking should not expect the Council to engage in back-and-forth dialogue regarding their comments. Unless an agenda item includes a public hearing, no person may speak during the business portion of the meeting; provided, however, persons speaking during a public hearing are limited to between five (5) and twenty (20) minutes.

  1. Accept the Certificate of Election as prepared by the Cuming County Clerk/Election Commissioner in regard to the newly elected Councilmembers.

  2. Fire & rescue departments – accept memberships & resignations: membership of Braden Schantz, Thomas Kreikemeier and MicKayla Furchert to West Point Rescue.
  3. Treasurer’s report.
  4. Claims.

D.   PUBLIC HEARINGS:

  1. Application of West Point Brewing Co LLC d/b/a West Point Brewing Co, 132 W. Grove St., West Point, Nebraska, for a Class C liquor license.

E.   BIDS: None.

  • CURRENT BUSINESS:
  • Consider 2024-2025 General Insurance Coverage for property/liability/auto/workers compensation/etc.
  • Discuss use of eminent domain to acquire property for the Levee.
  • Approval of Annual Maintenance Agreement with the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
  • Approve disposal of certain personal property of the City: (a)Chairs from the Nielsen Center.
  • Approve new City signs on north and south ends of West Point.
  • Special Designated Liquor Licenses:

(a) Win or Lose We Still Booze LLC dba Rush’s Liquor Store for a Cornhole Tournament on Friday, January 10, 2025; and

(b) District Table and Tap-West Point for a Christmas Party on December 14, 2024.

  • Discuss changing the date of the February 4, 2025 & March 4, 2025 council meeting.
  • Approval of council affiliated claims of Hugo Plumbing & Heating for services and supplies.

  • Resolution: Authorizing the use of Eminent Domain to acquire property for the Levee System.(Pending)
  • Resolution: Declaring certain property of the City of West Point to be surplus, being Nielsen Center chairs and authorizing the sale of the same.
