With the high price and scarcity of gasoline being seen in the news, what naturally follows is an increase in the number of gasoline thefts. The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning area residents to secure fuel tanks, fuel barrels and equipment, lock vehicles in garages or barns when possible, use security cameras and report any suspected fuel thefts to your nearest law enforcement agency. If you do see someone tampering with your fuel storage, note vehicle type, plate numbers and any other details that may help law enforcement, and of course, call law enforcement.
