Nebraska rodeo competitors continued a busy summer schedule with action at the Cherry County, Arthur County and Hyannis rodeos, while the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association prepares to begin its fall season.
At the Cherry County Fair Rodeo, Koldtyn Heath and Cinch Kiger split the bareback riding title with scores of 80. Jake Chasek won tie-down roping in 9.5 seconds, while Reagan McIntyre claimed breakaway roping in 2.4. Grady Gorwill won saddle bronc riding with a 75, and Hailey Witte topped barrel racing in 17.74.
At the Arthur County Fair Rodeo, Kaden Wooters won steer wrestling in 5 seconds, Abby Muck claimed breakaway roping in 2.8 and Cooper Brott and Cole Sherwood won team roping in 5.3. Gorwill added another saddle bronc victory with a 69.
Hyannis winners included Cody Angland in bareback riding, Wooters in steer wrestling, Kaycee Barnes in breakaway roping and Joel Contreras in tie-down roping. Monte Bailey won saddle bronc riding with a 75, while Kashley Fornstrom topped barrel racing in 18.12.
The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association will kick off its fall season Aug. 15-16 in Bassett. The Keya Paha County Fair Rodeo and Lincoln County Ag Society Rodeo are also scheduled for Aug. 14-15.
