Nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina is being recalled after the products entered the United States without required federal import reinspection.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says Corte Argentino USA LLC of Aventura, Florida, is recalling about 29,628 pounds of beef produced in Argentina between May 15 and May 20.
The affected products include boneless top sirloin butt, eye round, topside cap off, flat and knuckle cuts. They were shipped to distributors and retailers in Florida and Texas.
The products carry the Argentine establishment number “EST. N° OF. 2025” and shipping mark “26644-AA.” Use-or-freeze-by dates range from September 15 through September 20.
The recall was triggered by the lack of required import reinspection, not a confirmed finding of contamination or an outbreak. The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury connected to the beef.
The USDA says consumers who have the recalled products should not eat them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
