Rita Brabec, 88, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Friday, August 7, 2026, at the CHI Health – Schuyler, Schuyler, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Rod Kneifl and Fr. Dan Wittrock con-celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska, at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until Mass time, all at the church. There will be a Rosary/Vigil Service on Friday at 7:00 PM at the church. Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch on Saturday at St. John Neumann School immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the church or school, or other charitable organization of your choice.
Rita Marie (Fehringer) (Morgan) Brabec was born October 31, 1937, in Antelope County, Nebraska, (seven miles south of Brunswick) to William J. and Mathilda (Hoffmann) Fehringer. After graduation from Bloomfield High School in 1955, Rita moved to Houston, Texas where she met her future husband – Robert E.”Bob” Morgan. They were united in marriage at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Bloomfield and were blessed with six children. While raising her children, Rita worked for Bogner’s Steakhouse in Crofton, Nebraska, and upon moving to Norfolk, worked at the ABC Bowl, American Legion, and VFW.
Bob passed away in 1984 after only 28 years of marriage. Rita then met and married Gerald W. Brabec in 1988. With this marriage, Rita added Gerald’s three children into her family. They spent their years together on the farm south of Clarkson.
Until her passing, Rita attended and donated her time to SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and volunteered at St. John Neumann Catholic School. She was an active member of the VFW and American Legion.
