Memorial services for Mike Schrad age 73 of West Point, NE will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with Pastor John Gierke officiating. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026 starting at 5:00 p.m.. at the West Point Eagles Club. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mike passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at CHI Health-St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE.
Michael Joseph Schrad was born on April 28, 1953 in West Point, NE to Willard and Dorothy (Hartman) Schrad. He attended school at Guardian Angels Elementary and West Point High School. At the age of 14, he began learning how to drive a truck.
He and Karen Throener were married and to this union two sons-Nick and Ben were born.
Mike was always behind the wheel of a truck, whether he was hauling livestock, grain, on the feedlot, or for other businesses. He drove truck for nearly 60 years.
On November 14, 1987, he was united in marriage to Shirley Dohren in Yankton, SD. They had two children-Jennifer and Dusty.
Mike enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his garage, and loved spending time with his family.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents-Willard and Dorothy Schrad, wife-Shirley Schrad, granddaughter-Emily Schrad, sister-Clara Kaup, and brothers-in-law-Harry and Leona Dohren, Kenny Dohren, Daryl Dohren, and Daryl Meyer.
