Three Petitions circulated in the Lincoln area by paid petition circulators for the Good Government Lincoln Project – are now under suspicion. The petitions sought to add term limits and change who is allowed to vote in Lincoln City Elections. Many of those signatures are determined to be invalid or fraudulent after submission to the Lincoln City Clerk’s Office. The matter, under investigation by the Lancaster County sheriff’s Office, which has arrested five out of state petitioners in the matter. Those arrests in Washington DC, Missouri, Florida and Nevada. The Nebraska Attorney General’s office in a news release issued today says it takes the petition fraud allegations seriously and will bring those who have committed it to justice. Governor Jim Pillen, in a news release posted on social media, says he had opposed the repeal in 2015 of the prohibition on the use of paid petitioners.
