Lois Louise Schneekloth, age 91, of Oakland


Lois Louise Schneekloth, age 91, of Oakland, NE, passed away on August 1, 2026, at Oakland Heights.

Lois was born on February 4, 1935, to Joseph Frank Fiala and Elisa Marie (DeKeere) Fiala on a farm north of Creston in Stanton County, Nebraska. She attended District 31 Glant School through the eighth grade and graduated from Leigh High School in 1953. She furthered her education at Wayne State College, attending summer sessions and one semester to earn a two-year teaching certificate.

Following her education, Lois taught in rural schools in Platte and Stanton Counties and in Creighton, Nebraska. While teaching, she met Darrell Schneekloth, a teacher in Battle Creek, Nebraska. They were united in marriage and later moved to Blair, Nebraska, where they began a dairy farming operation. In 1965, the family relocated to Oakland, Nebraska, where they continued dairying for many years. Upon retirement in 2001, Lois and Darrell moved to Lyons, Nebraska.

Lois was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Leigh, Nebraska, and her faith remained an important part of her life. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, where she served on the church funeral committee and quilted for Lutheran World Relief. She also was a member of the Oakland Garden Club and the Logan Valley Quilt Guild.

Survivors include her two daughters: Laurie (Robert) Christiansen of Omaha, Kelly (Todd) Goodwater of Blair; four sons: Kurt (Connie) Schneekloth of Oakland, Russell (Julie) Schneekloth of Fremont, Greg (Lynnette) Schneekloth of Richland and Joel (Krystal) Schneekloth of Akron, Colorado; sister Edith (Robert) Callies of Leigh, NE, sister in law: Joyce Graybill (Omaha); 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Schneekloth; her parents, Joseph and Elisa Fiala; her brother, Lawrence Fiala; and her sisters, Doris Hake, Lucille Hillen, and Esther Kassmeier.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, August 7, 2026, 11:00 am, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland

VISITATION: One hour prior to services at the church

BURIAL: Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, NE
