Esther C. Wegner 89 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Nye Pointe in Fremont. She was born August 20, 1936 in West Point, NE to Henry and Theresa (Bose) Kloke.
Esther grew up on a farm near West Point and was a 1954 graduate of West Point Guardian Angels High School. She married Vergene ‘Gene’ Wegner August 30, 1958 in West Point. In 1959 they came to Fremont. She was employed at Western Electric (AT&T) in Omaha for 37 years.
Esther was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Patrick’s Women in Fremont.
She is survived by her son, Mark Wegner of Fremont; daughters, Marla (Harlan) Baker of Seward, NE and Michelle Karsting of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Joan Lueckenhoff of West Point, Kathleen Rosenbach of Fremont, Florence (Harvey) Hunke of Elkhorn, NE and Linda Kaysen of Winterset, IA; brothers, Jack (Loretta) Kloke of North Bend, NE and Alvin (Rosemarie) Kloke of Ames, NE; grandchildren, Tara Wegner, Zach (Sarah) Karsting and Tyler Wegner; and great-grandchildren, Coy and Brielle Karsting.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, “Gene”; and brothers-in-law, Jim Lueckenhoff, Ed Kaysen and Butch Rosenbach.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM., Thursday, August 6, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, with a Rosary at 7 PM all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
