GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Husker Harvest Days returns to Grand Island Sept. 15-17 with complimentary admission for those who register in advance and a lineup show manager Matt Jungmann says will make it difficult to see everything in one day.
“I’ve been to farm shows all over the world, and there’s not a farm show in the world that touches what Husker Harvest has as far as irrigation, as well as all the different demonstrations, all the interactive stuff going on, everything that that folks have come to know and love with stock dogs and horsemanship and cattle handling demonstration, plus all the machines in the field,” Jungmann said. “There’s just something happening around every corner.”
The Farm Progress event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Jungmann said Highway 30 is fully open, new paving from the highway to the show site is in place and traffic plans have been reviewed ahead of the show.
“The traffic flows really well now. Highway 30 is completely opened up and traffic flow is is really going to work,” Jungmann said.
He said the field demonstration corn is in strong shape after timely rains, and the show grounds have drained well. New demonstrations this year include tub grinders, total mixed ration mixers and corn stalk baling. The show will also feature a skid steer rodeo, a revamped beer garden and a BigIron tailgate during two days of the event.
Jungmann said Husker Harvest Days is expanding its livestock programming through a new partnership with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
“We’ve got a great partnership with NCBA. That’s brand new this year. They’re going to bring their their horsemanship and stockmanship tour to Husker Harvest Days. In between the two cattle handling demos, we’re going to have presentations from NCBA, which will bring its stockmanship and stewardship programming to the show between cattle handling demonstrations,” he said.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln research plots will also be located along Flag Road, where education specialists will be available to visit with producers. Jungmann said the show remains a place where farmers and ranchers can compare equipment, ask questions and look for ways to make their operations more efficient and profitable.
