AGP marks a milestone, the first ever U.S. unit train of soybean oil, shipped out of its David City plant.
Ag Processing Inc. opened the soybean plant in David City last year with rail access designed to efficiently load unit trains, strengthening domestic supply chains as demand for soybean oil grows.
AGP leaders say this achievement not only supports American agriculture and energy, but also creates more value for their cooperative owners and farmer-members.
Micheal Dolch said, “Projects like this require some long-term investment and thinking and long-term policy certainty. When the David City facility came online last August, September timeframe it was a goal of our oils and energy team to load successfully load and ship a unit train of soybean oil to a biodiesel producer or RD producer within the first year and we’ve met that milestone, met that goal.”
Dolch said the milestone comes as AGP celebrates 30 years in the biodiesel business.
The David City plant features more than 13 miles of rail showing strength in logistics to ship soybean oil.
“This did mark the first ever U.S. unit train shipment of soybean oil, loaded from AGP’s David City, Nebraska facility. Really shows what can happen when ag, energy, and infrastructure investment come together. At the end of the day, really pleased we can create more value for farmers here in Nebraska, goes a long way to supporting American energy production,” Dolch told the Rural Radio Network.
A unit train is a term for a freight train carrying a single commodity from its source to its destination. AGP says this is the first-ever unit train of soybean oil shipped in the U.S.
AGP’s David City plant began operations in late summer 2025.
