Richard E. Kratky, 97 of Prague, NE passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE. He was born December 17, 1928 on his family farm in Rescue, NE to Edward and Hattie (Kohout) Kratky. He attended District #73 country school till the 8th grade and then started working on the family farm. Richard worked many jobs including farming with Anton Wirka Sr., Crown Tire and Rubber Company, in Ralston, USDA with grain in Prague. Before retirement, Richard spent 26 years serving as a road grader for the Saunders County Road Department.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany during his time abroad. He was a member of American Legion Post #254, Eagles Club #2971 and Camp Creek Threshers. He enjoyed hit-and-miss engines, attending tractor, machinery and threshing shows, sharing a pivo at the local saloons, listening to Polka music, and attending community events throughout the county.
Richard is survived by his siblings, Ron Kratky of Tulsa, OK, Georgianne Malousek of Wahoo, NE, Gary Kratky of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Charlotte Kratky of Prague, NE; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hattie Kratky; sister, Janice Winkelman; brother, Edward Kratky Jr.; brothers-in -law, Marv Winkelman, Reynold Malousek; sisters-in-law, Carol Kratky, Maxine Kratky.
Funeral Service, Thursday, July 2, 2026, 10:30 am at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo, NE. Visitation, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
