Fire activity remained minimal overnight, allowing night operations crews to focus on strengthening and holding existing lines.
The latest update shows 37,010 acres consumed per the perimeter uploaded to the National Interagency Fire Center, with containment at 42 percent.
Yesterday, firing operations along the northern edge in Division Zulu continue to show positive results, with crews securing and improving the line established by day shift resources. Division Juliet, along the southern edge, saw an increase in containment.
Progress on the blaze has allowed incident command and emergency managers to lower the evacuation status of several areas around the fire. The city of Crawford, and areas to the far north and northwest of the fire, have been downgraded to the lowest alert level, and to the far west and south of Highway 20, the level has been reduced to the second, or preparatory, level for evacuation.
Weather conditions will be slightly warmer and drier than yesterday, with considerably less wind.
Firefighters will continue suppression, patrol, and mop-up operations across all divisions as they work to strengthen containment and secure remaining areas of concern.
562 personnel are currently on scene fighting the fire, about 20 percent of the 2,559 firefighters battling 11 active, uncontrolled wildland blazes across the nation as of Friday, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
