A day before the primary election, Nebraska’s Senate race has been highlighted by the New York Times.
Written by Kellen Browning titled G.O.P. Plant? Democratic Ruse? Accusations Fly in Nebraska’s Senate Race, the piece features Democratic candidates Cindy Burbank and William Forbes, and independent candidate Dan Osborn. The piece also features a quote from retiring Nebraska representative Don Bacon (R-NE2).
It’s the second piece written by the Times about Nebraska politics getting ready for the midterms. In March, Tim Balk wrote Why Nebraska’s ‘Blue Dot’ Is Roiling a Democratic House Primary, discussing Nebraska’s second district.
According to the Nebraska Secretary of State, there are nine primary candidates running for Nebraska’s Senate race. Burbank and Forbes are the lone Democrats running, while incumbent Pete Ricketts has four challengers. Todd Knobel of Lincoln, Eric Mortimore of Kearney, Debb Schultz of Grand Island and Mac Stevens of Bushnell are running for the Republican primary, alongside Ricketts. The Legal Marijuana NOW party has two candidates in Earl Starkey of Minatare and Mike Marvin of Omaha.
Polls tomorrow open at 8AM Central/7AM Mountain Time. Polls close at 8PM Central/7PM Mountain, and those in line when the polls close can still vote.
