Memorial services for Marjorie Holland age 97 of Aurora, NE formerly of Wisner, NE will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Christ in Wisner, NE with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Private family interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is assisting with the arrangements. Marjorie passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Memorial Community Care in Aurora, NE.
Marjorie Jean Stewart Holland was born June 14, 1927 at the Wisner, NE farm home to Ray and Eva (Wallace) Stewart. She was baptized and confirmed at the Wisner Methodist Church.
She attended elementary school at District #42 in Cuming County and graduated from Wisner High School in 1945. Following graduation, Marjorie taught rural school District #66 in Cuming County and also at the Scribner, NE elementary school.
She married Bill Holland on December 5, 1948 at the Wisner Methodist Church. They lived at the Dinklage East Place for 4 years before moving to their farm north of Wisner, where they resided for 46 years. In 1994, they moved into Wisner and spent winters in Tucson, AZ for 20 years where they attended Christ United Methodist Church.
Marge and Bill are the parents to four sons, Douglas and Howard, deceased, Martin and Bradley.
Bill and Marge traveled extensively in their 71 years of marriage visiting all 50 states and all the continents except Antarctica. They hosted numerous foreign exchange students in their home and enjoyed lifelong friendships with them.
Marjorie Stewart Holland earned a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree in education from Wayne State College. After graduation she served as Director of the Learning Centers at Wayne State College before her retirement in 1988. She and Bill served on the Board of Directors for the Wayne State Foundation for 18 years, and the Holland Academic Success Center is named in their honor.
Marge is a 63 years member and past president of Chapter EP PEO. She was a member of the Elkhorn Valley Genealogical Society and an emeritus member of Northeast Nebraska Master Gardeners. For many years she was a regular contributor to the Master Gardener column in the Norfolk Daily News. Marge was a long-time genealogist, an avid reader and writer. She published several books on family history and gardening.
She was a charter member and president of Nifty Neighbors Extension club and the Wisner Junior Women’s Club and served on the boards of St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Neihardt Foundation, and Educational Service Unit #2.
Marge is a member of the United Methodist Church of Christ in Wisner, where she was Sunday School superintendent and teacher, children’s choir director and church organist for more than 40 years. Marge loved music and often played the piano for Community Care and the Villa in Aurora.
Marge and Bill lived for 2 years in Albuquerque, NM and resided for 3 years at the Villa in Aurora, NE. Following Bill’s death in 2019, Marge moved to Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
Survivors include her children and families.

Sister-in-law-Veretta Koehler of Wisner, NE and several nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband-Bill, two sons-Douglas and Howard Holland, parents, and sister-Phyllis Luedtke.
